Senior Risk/Financial Analyst

Job description
Picture
As member of the Loss Optimization Unit, you will be responsible to analyze data to make sure we keep an optimum balance between the credit rejection ratio and produced losses. We are a Fintech with a portfolio approach to risk management, i.e. we want to offer the best rejection rate to the market while we optimize losses properly.

You’ll have to analyze all the credit life cycle to prevent fraud, optimize the loan book and minimise losses. The life cycle includes the approval or rejection of the credit by the automated and / or manual systems, the dunning processes and the management of defaulted credits.

Your main tasks will be:

  • ​​Analysis​
    • Understand the root cause of losses and categorize them: forms of fraud, defaulted credits typology, dunning efficiency, operative issues and so on.
    • Develop loss forecastings.
    • Performs credit ratio analysis, constructs credit proposals, and makes limit recommendations based on collected data and sound personal judgment.
    • Conduct merchant analysis and calculate potential credit/financial risk and quantifies risk assessment.
  • ​​Control​​
    • Define KPIs and dashboards to monitor, control and share properly segmented loss metrics, ensuring data integrity.
    • Setup alarms to detect and react promptly to strange deviations.
  • Reporting
    • ​Produce a loss weekly report for the management team with findings and proposals.
    • Lead a weekly risk committee meeting where new merchants are approved (with proper limits, filters and so) and where actions are taken for existing merchants in the event of incidents.
  • Processes
    • ​Review, create and monitor loss and recovery processes.
    • Document policy and procedural changes.
  • Development
    • ​Work closely with developers and operators within the Loss Optimization Department suggesting improvements in processes & tools.
    • Maintain an updated backlog of improvements in the risk area including prioritization, implementation effort and potential benefit.
    • Keep reviewing and finding databases, tools etc. that can optimize losses.

What we require

  • ​​European Union Work Permit.
  • Fluent spoken and written Spanish.
  • Business domain.
    • ​Excellent knowledge of industry best risk management practice. Ideally experience in consumer credit risk role at a financial institution (Fintech lender experience preferred).
    • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Analysis.
    • ​Excellent analytical skills.
    • ​Detail oriented and strong analytic skill set.
    • Good investigatory skills.
    • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Tools.​
    • Advanced knowledge and proficiency on analytical tools (Excel, Tableau or others).
    • Ideally, good database extraction and data manipulation skills (SQL, Redshift, R, scripting, etc.).
  • Leadership.
    • ​A commitment to personal high standards and the desire and ability to positively contribute to team and company goals.
    • Superior teamwork skills.
    • ​Proactive, driven, self-motivated, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrates initiative, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities effectively without losing attention to detail.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.​
